Do I need an HVAC license to become an ALocal Dealer? +

No. You do not need an HVAC license or mechanical experience.

ALocal provides the licensed and insured installation partners who handle all mechanical work, permits, and startup. You operate a retail business — focused on quoting, guiding homeowners, and growing your local brand.

What does an ALocal Dealer actually do day to day? +

Dealers run a local HVAC retail brand focused on new system sales and replacements. On a typical day you might:

  • Respond to inbound leads, calls, and quote requests
  • Meet homeowners (online or in-home) and help them choose the right system
  • Prepare quotes using our pricing, tools, and eCommerce storefront
  • Coordinate site checks and installation dates with our licensed install teams
  • Request reviews, follow up with past customers, and work your referral network
  • Stay active locally — social media, community events, and partnerships with realtors, coaches, and local businesses

How much does it cost to get started? +

Most Dealers start with a one-time equity buy-in of $5,000–$10,000 into their local LLC. This secures majority ownership and covers brand creation, website + CRM setup, and full onboarding.

We recommend an additional $30,000–$50,000 (depending on how soon you start selling) in operating reserves to comfortably cover your first 18–24 months of software, platform tools, seasonal ad spend, and basic operating expenses.

Average monthly overhead (platform, software, and required ads) is typically $1,500–$3,000 per month — dramatically lower than traditional HVAC franchises that often carry $8,000–$25,000+ in monthly fixed costs.

How much can an ALocal Dealer earn? +

Earnings depend on your market, effort, and install volume, but the model is built to scale into a strong full-time income as you grow.

Using our sample economics, a dealer doing around 35 installs in Year 1 can net roughly $30K–$40K after expenses. At roughly 65 installs in Year 2, net income moves into the $70K+ range. By about 120+ installs in Year 3, many dealers can reach $150K+ in annual net income.

The long-term goal is to reach 100+ installs per year (about two per week on average), where the business becomes a scalable, six-figure local HVAC brand.

Do I need HVAC or construction experience? +

No industry background is required.

We train you on HVAC basics, quoting, and how to guide homeowners through system options. Ideal Dealers are community-connected, comfortable talking to people, and organized with follow-up — the technical work stays with licensed pros in our network.

What types of jobs will I be selling? +

ALocal focuses on new system sales and full replacements — the part of the HVAC market where most revenue is generated.

You are not running a repair company. Instead, you are offering homeowners a modern way to purchase complete HVAC systems with upfront pricing and professional installation.

How does installation work once I sell a system? +

After you close a sale:

  • You order the equipment and coordinate the install through our platform
  • ALocal schedules our licensed and insured installation partner
  • The homeowner receives confirmations, updates, and install details
  • The system is installed, started up, and registered for warranty
  • You follow up with the homeowners to get 5-star reviews and referrals

Installers are paid a fair flat rate per job, which rewards quality work and leads to better homeowner outcomes and fewer callbacks.

Is ALocal a franchise? +

No. ALocal is a retail platform, not a traditional franchise.

There are no royalty payments or mandatory franchise fees. You own your local brand and customer relationships while using our pricing, systems, and installer network to operate with low overhead.

Compared to HVAC franchises that can require $150K–$500K+ to start, ALocal offers a lean, modern path into HVAC ownership with a fraction of the cost and complexity.

Each Dealer owns the majority of their local LLC, with ALocal as a minority partner — a structure that keeps you fully in control while aligning everyone’s incentives for long-term growth.

Where are territories currently available? +

We are actively awarding exclusive territories in Dallas/Fort Worth now. Austin, San Antonio, and Houston are available upon request and are part of our next expansion wave.

Can I start part-time? +

Yes — especially in your first year as your pipeline, reviews, and brand begin to ramp up. ALocal is designed to work alongside your current schedule while you get established.

Keep in mind that HVAC is seasonal, and most installs and revenue happen during the summer months. Part-time works well early on, but peak season may require more hands-on involvement.

As your business grows, you’ll also have the flexibility to hire support, bring on commission-based affiliates, or eventually build a small team to handle volume — without ever needing the trucks, techs, or overhead of a traditional HVAC company.
